Our research facilities and equipment
In our lab, we utilize different equipment, devices and setups for characterization and analysis of our experimental and numerical works. In addition to the utilities in our lab, we have access to the advanced equipment at the Center for Materials and Sensors Characterization (CMSC) including microscopy, thermal analysis, spectroscopy, such as SEM, TEM, TGA, XRD, Raman Spectrometer, Gamry instruments, Contact Angle Measurement, and many other tools.
Outdoor snow/ice facility equipped with weather stations, cameras, ice/snow sensors, and solar panels/bridge cables for conducting research during natural snow/freezing rain events
Setup for measuring snow adhesion strength on various surfaces and studying its shedding mechanisms
Custom-build snow gun for creating artificial snow with controlled particle sizes and liquid water content
A walk-in freezing room that reaches temperatures of -20c connected to a wind tunnel that reaches speeds of 45 mph for conducting indoor snow/ice research
